The Small Business Environmental Assistance Program/Small Business Ombudsman (SBEAP/SBO) National Steering Committee (NSC) Awards are the States’ premier awards program for recognizing outstanding environmental leadership among small businesses and small business assistance providers.
These awards recognize small businesses, SBEAP/SBO programs and individuals, trade associations and other business assistance providers who have made significant contributions to protecting the environment. The awards program is a partnership with U.S. EPA Asbestos and Small Business Office. Awards were presented at the 2022 Annual Training and are featured below.
Pennsylvania’s EMAP Receives 2022 National Small Business Environmental Assistance Program Excellence Award: This award category recognizes a Small Business Environmental Assistance Program for leadership with NSC, its subcommittees, and activities that support other SBEAP/SBO. Press release
Cincinnati Recycling & Reuse Hub selected for the Small Business Environmental Stewardship Award: The non-profit was recognized for its accomplishments in the areas of improving environmental performance, pollution prevention, and sustainability. Press release
Best Body Shop selected for the Small Business Environmental Stewardship Award: Best Body Shop was recognized for working with the Kansas SBEAP on assessing its compliance requirements under the Kansas Air Quality Regulations and switching from solvent paint to a water-hybrid system. Press release
Abilene Boot selected for the Small Business Environmental Stewardship Award: This small boot manufacturer, based in Somerset, Pennsylvania, was recognized for its accomplishments in the areas of improving environmental performance, pollution prevention, and sustainability Press Release
Nancy Larson of the Kansas SBEAP and Sara J. Johnson New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services honored with Karen V. Brown Leadership Award: This award honors an individual's long-term achievements in support of NSC, its subcommittees, and with partners in collaborative efforts to improve assistance resources for small businesses.
